"Fire Protection and Life Safety Analysis of an Existing Roadway Tunnel".
Description:
An engineering analysis was conducted for an existing road tunnel and its related facility systems such as emergency ventilation, fire detection and alarm, and fire protection systems. NFPA 502, “Standard for Road Tunnels, Bridges, and Other Limited Access Highways” was used as the baseline for evaluating requirements. A risk analysis framework was established for comparing existing conditions to the NFPA 502 requirements. Risk reduction and mitigation recommendations were made and ranked based upon prioritization factors, with a view to providing for future scope planning for project implementation to upgrade the tunnel safety systems.
Speaker Introduction:
Andy Grenier, PE, is a Principal Advisor with Coffman Engineers. As a retired Walt Disney Imagineer, Andy has a specialized background in themed entertainment attractions, parks, hotel resorts, and cruise ships. During his 19+ years with Disney, Andy worked on a wide range of projects involving design, delivery, and commissioning of fire detection and alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, smoke control systems, special hazard fire suppression systems, materials fire safety, fire hazard analysis, performance-based design, and integrated safety systems testing. Andy is also a Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served for over three decades in various assignments on active duty and in the Coast Guard Reserve. Andy is a past president of the Southern California Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) and currently serves as a member of the SFPE PE Exam Development subcommittee
