CFAST-Based Fire Simulation Training
Presented by Dr. David Icove, University of Tennessee
TVSFPE will host a two-day course on CFAST, Consolidated Model of Fire and Smoke Transport. The 2-day course offers classroom instruction on the CFAST software. The Consolidated Model of Fire and Smoke Transport, CFAST, is a computer program that fire investigators, safety officials, engineers, architects and builders can use to simulate the impact of past or potential fires and smoke in a specific building environment. CFAST is a two-zone fire model used to calculate the evolving distribution of smoke, fire gases and temperature throughout compartments of a building during a fire.

An internationally recognized forensic engineering expert with over 40 years of experience, Dr. Icove’s expertise is based on a blend of university teaching, on-scene fire tests and experiments, and authorship of several peer-reviewed textbooks and articles. A retired federal law enforcement agent, he has testified as an expert witness in civil and criminal trials, as well as before U.S. Congressional Committees seeking guidance on key legislative initiatives.
